Boruto: Naruto Next Generations is the sequel and spin-off of Naruto. It is a Japanese anime and manga series written by Masashi Kishimoto. The anime is produced by animation studio Pierrot and aired on TV Tokyo.
Moreover, the chief director is Noriyuki Abe, who directed the series from episodes 1 – 104. Further, from episode 105 – present, Masayuki Koda is the chief director. Other directors are Hiroyuki Yamashita from episodes 1 – 66, and Toshiro Fuji is from 67 – 104.
Also, Makoto Uezu is the scriptwriter from 1 – 66, and from episode 67 till present, it is Masaya Honda. The series is supervised by a manga writer Ukyo Kodachi.
The anime is aired on April 5, 2017, on TV Tokyo. It is a weekly anime and airs on Wednesday at 6 PM JST. However, since May 3, 2018 (after episode 55), it is being aired at 7:30 PM JST every Thursday.
They changed the date again after episode 75, and from October 7, 2018, it airs on Sunday. Now the time is at 5:30 OM JST. Also, the series is released on DVDs.
The series went on hiatus for two months due to Covid-19, and it resumed on July 5, 2020.
In the USA, the English dub was released on Adult Swim on September 29, 2018. But they removed the series a year later. Their CEO Jason DeMarco said they do not plan to bring back the series anytime soon.
Summary of the Anime
Boruto: Naruto Next Generations is the story of Boruto, who is the son of Naruto Uzumaki. He, along with his friends’ studies at Ninja Academy in Leaf Village. While studying, they also try to find a path they want to follow when they grow up.
Even though it is based on manga series, the anime has a lot of original plots. Some anime is taken from spin-off manga Boruto: Naruto The Movie and Naruto: The Seventh Hokage and The Scarlet Spring. Also, some of it is taken from Naruto Shinden, a light novel.
